guitars Recording Next Spring
It looks more and more likely the chalk giants will be hitting the recording studo again next spring with a shed load of new stuff, enough to put together a new album (providing the studio fund holds out).

Both Mike and I are recording demos right now, and I think we might bung some rough ideas online to get some feedback on which songs to target. More when theres more...

The Muleteers
The Muleteers
My Muleteers project is now on-hold. Actually, its worse. I am cannibalising the songs I recorded under The Muleteers guise for use by the Chalk Giants. I hate to see a chord change go to waste. But for the handfull of Muleteer fans (yes, I have realised the name could be pronounced "Mullet-Ears"), please don't fret because The Muleteers will return in 2009 (even if "The Return of The Muleteers" does sound like a 1960s James Stewart Western).

lazy lazy lazy Bones of laziness
Over the past few months I've been very lazy with the chalk giants, doing pretty much nothing. But new songs are starting to stack up and something needs to be done. I also need to sort out some live possibilities.

Certainly the next big chalk giant date will be a new album. This will most likely include some tracks from the last recording session, some new spankers and also a selection of accoustic "live" recordings - more details will follow.

mousse records Mousse Records Now Open
We have just launched Mousse Records, a place where we can sell our stuff. Have a little look-see and maybe buy a CD or two: all proceeds go towards the next chalk giants album. We have decided to use a PayPal system and so payments through the site are immediate and 100% secure. Happy shopping!

Some old c90 covers C90 Covers of Doom
Before CDs there was the wonderful C90 cassette format. Ideal for demo tapes, you could knock one out in the bedroom and be selling a new tape at a gig the same night. Our official artwork, the smiley sun we know and still love today, originated with Mike Cook who also produced the 12" single artwork and official cassette cover. Unfortunately this left the band to do all of the other demo covers (well, me actually), and some of them were much better than others. Check out the good, the bad and the ugly in archive and stuff.

Our Myspace
If you have a moment have a look at our myspace (www.myspace.com/thechalkgiants), run on our behalf by Mike Cook, a school friend who has been with us right from the start (and who has done so much to help guide our direction). I am particularly proud of our myspace friends; it is a list of names that includes so many of our influences... maybe some of yours too?

Shut Down Sessions Shut Down Session News
It is likely that we will incorporate the tracks from the Shut Down session with other tracks, either to produce a fully fledged album or a bloated E.P.

The session included...
Shut Down - penned and sung by Mike, the strong lead track for session recorded at the White House studios in the West Country. The song is the best thing we've done for ages and everyone is really proud of the way it turned out.

We also recorded "Beagle Smile" by myself and Chris' awesome debut as lead singer, "Claimed."

Matt and Mike Photos from the Field
I have posted two photos from a photo session with Mike in the archive and stuff section. In twenty years we have only done three photo shoots (that I can remember), one in a scrap yard (mean and moody), one in front a garage door that had some graffiti on it (key kids, rock und roll) and one in a field at the back of my parent's house (with half the band missing). These two photographs were actually taken in The Last Green Field in England (the song from "these things I've done" CD compilation); the field has now gone, replaced by a cruelly drab housing slab.

Much more stuff to come in the archive soon...
